The Day You Were Born
A personal narrative in progress of reliving one of the happiest yet most terrifying days of my life. I began with this piece because it was comfortable and since I wasn't comfortable with writing yet, I felt this was the path to follow first.
To Teach or Not to Teach
A journal entry of why and how I became a teacher. This is a reflection upon my life as a whole and how life, perceptions/misperceptions, and society can alter one's thinking. Another comfortable place for me to be as a writer.
Untitled
My first attempt at a short story. It is unfinished with no real, determined direction as of yet. Finally stepping outside the comfort zone of myself and trying to develop the story of someone else. Maybe this isn't the route I want to go with my writing.
A Tale of...
An attempt at poetry, more specifically poetry that reflects my experiences through each grade level in school. A little bit of discomfort and a lot of a new experience. Poetry can be very personal which tends to be the reason I stray from it.
Destruction
During a mini-writing marathon, we analyzed art at Krannert Art Museum and developed our own writing. In Destruction, I chose the artwork by Kitaoka Fumio: The Fishing Village, 1966 and William Wegman: Inside Outside, 2014.
